- New York's Department of Education will open 20 new schools in the Bronx this September, including the Bronx Academy for Software Engineering (BASE), the Health, Education and Research Occupations (HERO) High School and the environmentally friendly Highbridge Green School.
- Some of these schools offer great opportunities: BASE will train students in programming languages like Java and C++, mobile app development for smart phones and web design, while HERO will allow them to earn a free associate degree and prepare them to transition directly into work as registered nurses or community health workers.
