While the number of board-certified teachers in Washington is more than any other state, it's difficult to read this report and not think back on an April 2014 article by TFA alum Alexandra Hootnick, which questioned how Teach for America was expanding in Seattle when traditional teachers were losing their jobs.
Hootnick's article was at the core of a controversial article published by The Nation, titled "This Is What Happens When You Criticize Teach for America," which delved into the organization's internal memo on bad press after Hootnick's piece was published.
