- Students returned to class at Marysville-Pilchuck High School in Washington state Tuesday, just over a week after an Oct. 24 cafeteria shooting.
- District spokesman Aaron Toso told the Associated Press that while schedules will proceed as normal, the school will also have grief counselors on call throughout the week and that the cafeteria, where the shooting occurred, will be closed.
- Four students, including the shooter, have died since the tragic event and two more remain in the hospital.

The devastating event has ushered in a new wave of attention to safety on school grounds. In Delaware, a pilot program is outfitting staff at New Castle's Gunning Bedford Middle School and Pleasantville Elementary with bulletproof whiteboards.
