Dive Insight:
So what are some of the tools that educators and school districts can use? K-5 grade teachers may benefit from using the Martha Walks the Dog video. Part of the "Martha Speaks" reading buddies program, this particular video deals with Martha trying to figure out why a new dog in town is loud and mean. Students watch a quick video and then pair up for follow up activities. Older grades may enjoy The Teenage Brain, a FRONTLINE video segment that dissects differences between the brains of kids and the brains of their parents and teachers. A resource, NFL Bullying Case Sparks Debate, is meant for 7-12 grade classrooms and pulls directly from current events. In this activity, students are asked to analyze the time when Miami Dolphins player Jonathan Martin quit because of bullying.
