Florida's lottery is one of the most profitable in the nation, and like several other states, laws tying its proceeds to the education budget definitely see schools reap the benefits. Since 1988, the education budget has received an additional $27 billion from the lottery. Still, the lottery is a tough one: While this extra revenue stream is amazing and definitely helps schools, states also hopefully don't want their citizens overly dependent or addicted to the lottery.
