ORLANDO, Fla. — KAITLab, Inc., an education technology company specializing in mathematics and artificial intelligence, announced its acquisition of ImpactED Global, Inc., bringing together two organizations committed to strengthening mathematics instruction and improving student outcomes.
The strategic acquisition combines KAITLab’s AI-powered Smartpen technology and personalized mathematics learning platform with ImpactED’s research-based professional learning, educator Needs Inventory and instructional improvement solutions. Together, these capabilities provide school districts with an integrated approach to identifying instructional needs, strengthening teacher effectiveness and supporting student achievement.
At the center of KAITLab’s technology is its Smartpen, which captures students’ handwritten mathematical work and uses artificial intelligence to analyze problem-solving processes, identify learning gaps and support personalized instruction. Combined with ImpactED’s educator diagnostics and professional learning, the technology connects two critical dimensions of educational improvement: understanding how students learn and equipping teachers to help them succeed.
“This acquisition represents a significant step toward connecting the science of teaching with the power of technology,” said Merritt Nelson, Co-President and Chief Development Officer of KAITLab and Co-Founder of ImpactED Global. “We now have the ability to understand what teachers need, identify where students struggle and provide targeted solutions for both. Our focus is on helping school districts turn instructional data into meaningful action and measurable improvements in student learning.”
The acquisition establishes a complementary executive leadership structure. Nelson will serve as Co-President and Chief Development Officer, leading corporate strategy, growth, sales, strategic partnerships and customer success. Dr. Joe Davis will serve as Co-President and Chief Mathematics & AI Learning Officer, overseeing mathematics, instructional pedagogy, product development and AI learning strategy. Dr. Joseph Wise will continue as Chairman, providing strategic leadership, governance and oversight of the company’s long-term growth.
“By bringing together proven instructional expertise, innovative technology and experienced leadership, we are building an organization equipped to address the needs of both educators and students,” said Wise. “Our strategy is to provide school systems with connected solutions that translate research and data into stronger instruction and improved learning outcomes.”
With the acquisition, KAITLab expands its portfolio to include AI-powered mathematics learning, educator needs assessments, standards-aligned professional learning, instructional coaching and progress monitoring. The combined organization will serve schools, districts and state education agencies seeking coordinated, scalable solutions to mathematics improvement.
KAITLab’s mission is clear: identify the need, develop the educator, support the student and measure the impact.
