Expert AI tutors from Superprof, the world’s largest tutoring network, have shared an inside look at what it takes to stay competitive in an AI-driven economy, and what worries them most about the road ahead.
Every tutor surveyed said tools like ChatGPT have made them more productive, with 63% reporting an “extreme” improvement. But the same group also sounded alarms about the darker side of AI. More than 80% believe that AI will significantly or completely increase the spread of misinformation, and over half say stronger government oversight is needed to ensure ethical development.
“Young professionals are eager to learn about AI, and that demand is reshaping the tutoring landscape,” said Mina Ozdemir, Public Relations Manager at Superprof. “At the same time, our tutors are urging caution. They see incredible promise in this technology but also serious risks we can’t ignore.”
The survey shows that 66% of AI students are between the ages of 20 and 30, suggesting that early career-focused learners are driving most of the momentum. Machine Learning remains the most commonly taught topic (56%), followed by Deep Learning and Natural Language Processing. Tutors say staying competitive in the job market requires more than technical know-how: problem-solving (32%), critical thinking (24%), and emotional intelligence (20%) were ranked as the most essential human skills for long-term success.
Cue the scary music: nearly half of tutors (48%) believe sentient AI is possible or already here. And while many express concern about ethical gaps, most also see AI as a tool for good. Tutors say it can help reduce repetitive tasks, support industries in transition, and even fight the same misinformation it helps spread.
“AI is advancing faster than our ability to control it,” said Reza Ghadimi, an AI tutor at Superprof. “Rushing this technology without cultural adaptation risks serious consequences. Since governments and corporations won’t act, individuals must sharpen critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving to protect our future as a free society.“
The Superprof survey was conducted nationally in the United States in July 2025 and reflects the views of 41 highly experienced AI tutors teaching students across a wide range of technical subjects.
