A new survey conducted by Superprof, the world’s largest tutoring network, reveals that choreographed wedding dances may be taking center stage in today’s nuptial traditions. Whether it’s a pop-fueled bridal party routine or a surprise salsa from the groom’s uncles, Americans are increasingly saying “I do” to dancing with a plan.
Superprof’s nationwide survey found that one in four respondents has already been in a choreographed wedding dance, and 33% say they would hire a choreographer if their budget allowed. From funky footwork to romantic waltzes, more couples are putting choreography on the wedding checklist.
“This is about more than just TikTok moments,” said Camille Lemardeley, Managing Director at Superprof. “People are finding that a bit of choreography is a chance to create something memorable with the people they love. These dances are becoming a lasting part of how we celebrate tying the knot.”
Key Findings from Superprof’s Survey:
- Moving into the mainstream: 34% of respondents said choreographed wedding dances are everywhere—and another third say they’ve noticed them popping up more and more.
- Not just for show: 25% of people surveyed have already participated in a choreographed wedding dance. And while 22% think it's a bit much, 20% said “definitely” to having one at their own wedding.
- Budget matters: 32% of respondents said $300–$500 is a fair range to spend on choreography, while 31% preferred $100–$300.
- Styles with swagger: The most popular style to perform or watch? That would be upbeat pop/hip-hop/funk (42%), followed by classic ballroom (38%), Latin rhythms like salsa and cha-cha (27%), and line dancing (26%).
- Where people look for choreographers: More than half (56%) said they’d turn to a local dance studio, while others named TheKnot.com (16%), WeddingWire.com (15%), and Superprof.com (10%) as go-to resources.
- Social media’s role: 49% of respondents said they most often see choreographed wedding dances on platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.
- Fun, not forced: While 34% said choreographed routines can add stress, 40% wisely noted that it really depends on the people involved. And 33% called it “a fun and exciting evolution of wedding traditions.”
Kayla Naijé, a professional dancer, choreographer, dance educator, and Superprof tutor, has seen that evolution first-hand. "It brings me so much joy to see couples now including something as expressive as dance in their weddings. Whether it's playful and fun or romantic and intimate, dance truly adds something magical to make your day extra special.”
The survey of 209 adults conducted via SurveyMonkey in April 2025, shows how Americans are rewriting the wedding playbook, one bold move at a time.
"Wedding planning can be overwhelming and stressful,” said Sofia Mesa Bejarano, a dance choreographer and Superprof tutor. “But wedding choreography can capture the couple’s own intimate story in a way that’s fun and unique.”
